Community Rules

  1. Above all else, keep a positive atmosphere and good sportsmanship. Encourage your teammates and don’t take things too seriously. We have a wide range of skill levels and nobody should feel left out.

  2. Respect the local culture and traditions by dressing modestly and smelling nice.

  3. Don’t waste time when teams are switching on/off the court between games. No practice shots, excessive chatting, etc.

  4. Please warm up properly before you start playing - even if you show up late, do some stretches and toss the ball around a bit before joining the game. We’ve seen a lot of injuries and a little warmup goes a long way.

  5. Inactive members will be removed without warning. Missing a session increases your inactivity score by 1 and you will be removed once it reaches 9 (i.e. missing 9 consecutive sessions). Late cancels (<12h notice) double the penalty and last minute cancels (<6h) triple it. Attending a session brings your score back down by 2 (so attending once per week keeps your score neutral).

Game Rules

  1. Net touch = point for other team.
  2. Don’t cross the center line if jumping to spike from the back row.
  3. Don’t cross the back line when serving.
  4. If you touch the ball while it’s still fully on the other side of the net, it’s an overreach. You can only do this when blocking an attack.
  5. If the ball hits the ceiling on your own side you can continue the play, but if it touches the ceiling while crossing over then the point is lost.
  6. If you jump for a spike or block, be absolutely certain that your feet land fully on your own side or lose the point. Too many people have rolled their ankles from landing on each other.
